Discover

Every project begins with conversation. We want to learn what is important to you. We begin a partnership with you in this discovery journey to capture your ideas, likes & dislikes. Often referred to as “programming,” during this phase we will collect relevant data such as a property survey or maybe photos of design ideas you like. In the case of alterations or addition work we will measure and document your existing building or house and maybe walk the site with you discussing building orientation and views.

Concept

This is when the magic happens. We begin imagining and composing your ideas into a design that embodies what we collected during the ‘discover’ phase. This phase, referred to as Schematic Design includes using 2D computer drafting software to make a series of drawings which include floor plans and elevations of the exterior. We now have a working concept and we are ready to develop it.

Develop

Here we formalize the drawings by adding structure, sections, dimensions, and the like. We “tweak” the design as needed to produce a final buildable design. We help you select materials and at times develop 3D color renderings to assist in visualization. And finally, we move on to the Construction document phase. By the end of this phase we’ve created a cohesive and complete set of drawings required to build your project. These construction documents are submitted to the municipality to acquire a permit and once approved become the legal drawing set your builder uses to build your project into reality.

Build

During construction we may make intermittent field visits to check on construction. When needed, we will work with your builder to resolve unforeseen conditions which sometimes arise during construction. As well, we will work with your builder to clarify any questions or suggestions made. Our goal is to assist in bridging any gaps between the design and the build. We are passionate in wanting to see your project come to fruition as we designed.
